Galina Ajunts has received her first violin lessons from her mother, who in her turn was a pupil of Arkadi Parsegov, a great pedagogue in the former Soviet Union. Galina has been exposed to classical music since her early childhood and that has determined her strong inclination towards classical music and the preservation of classical performing and teaching traditions. Galina thinks that it is very important to receive a proper education from the very beginning and that it is necessary to acquire good habits. She believes that since music is a gift from God it needs to be treated as such and that children need to acquire the will power to walk the narrow way to mastering this beautiful art.
Galina holds her Bachelor's degree in Violin Performance from the Togliatti Music College in Russia, where she studied under Larisa Mageramova, and her Master's and Doctoral degree in Violin Performance from Michigan State University, where she studied with Walter Verdehr and Dmitri Berlinsky. She has also performed with different orchestras in Russia, and in the US. Now she concentrates mostly on teaching, trying to pass down the heritage that she acquired from her wonderful musician-teachers.
